400 Viking & Norse Cat Names: Great Ideas for Strong Cats

Written by: Christian Adams

Bringing a new cat into your family is an exciting time, and your home will become a bit more entertaining with a new furry friend. You have a litter box, food, and toys, but what do you name your new pet? If you want to give your pet a strong title, you can look into Viking and Norse history for ideas.

The terms “Norse,” “Scandinavian,” and “Viking” are often used as synonyms, but they have slightly different meanings. Norse refers to Scandinavian people from the 9th to 11th century who were not involved in seafaring adventures or colonization. A Scandinavian is anyone from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, or Finland, and a Viking is a Norse warrior who traveled by ship to colonize new lands.

Female Viking Names for Cats

Although Vikings are often associated with war and brute force, their female names, while promoting strength, are lyrical and fitting for poetry. Titles like Aloisa, Brenn, and Mille do not bring visions of death or bloody warriors to mind. Viking women were resilient since they often accompanied the men on raiding parties, but they were not bloodthirsty conquerors.
