Stop freaking out. My sister adopted a resue cat at Petsmart. She came with tapeworms we found out a week later. One round of treatment of Tradewind tape worm pills (3 pills) from Petsmart and all was gone. She never had them again even after having fleas. (Capstar, the Program and Adams flea shampoo to get rid of fleas for my long haired cats.) Now breath........

Catster Lifestyle, News & Entertainment > New play toys - Robo Fish, Frolic Cat, Fishing rod

Can we play??

Purred: Fri Feb 21, '14 12:02pm PST
My review is based on Birmans. Other cats may love or flip out over the toy I reviewed.

I saw a new toy on Floppycats youtube channel. So I looked for it a few stores. I finally gave up and ordered one online. I got the Zuru Robo Fish in orange. I filled a small round glass bowl and sat on the floor. As the cats came closer I put the Robo Fish in the bowl. It swam for a few minutes. They watched. But no one stalking and paws swatting wildly at the fish. I pulled the toy out of the water and dried it off. The cats saw this and thought for a moment and rushed to lean over the bowl. They could not wait and began to lap at the water. I put an end to that right away and throw out the water in to my potted plants. I was not sure the plastic in the fish BPA free. Better safe then sorry.

I'll take my Robo Fish down to my sister's house and see if her Himalayan finds it interesting. But so far my Birmans think it was just okay and not a favorite toy.

I also picked up a Frolic Cat on sale at Bed Bath and Beyond. And only Candie thinks it is the bomb of all toys. She LOVES to chase lasers.

The Shakespeare Ugly Stik Jr. rod I got at Cabelo was a winning with my homemake lure of pheasant feathers and a lead weight. I dug through my tackle box and found all the parts with one exception. I put my lure on a saftey pin and not a hook. It made it easy to hook to the swivel on the line. My Jr. rod is 42 inches long. If your not one to fish, I would recommend a shorter rod to cast inside your home. I sit in the living room chair and can cast all the way into the dining room. All of my cats love that homemade toy.

The girls still LOVE a green bamboo plant stake I got at the garden store.

And my favorite idea is to collect most of the cat toys for a while in a box. They soon forget about them. Then I bring them back and they go crazy all over again. Try it and see it for yourself.

White paws are a must for Birmans. If you hold a Birman against their will, they will do the Birman Huff to tell you "Let me go!".

Does Oscar have an undercoat? Birmans do not have an undercoat. I'm thinking Oscar is a Himalayan. But for sure is not a Birman.

Problem solved! Look at Cookie's profile and scroll down to see a picture of what I made. Simple and fast too.

Here is a link of what it is made of. (Google: metal modular cube storage) http://www.globalindustrial.com/p/storage/lockers/ventilated/6-pack- modular-mesh-storage-cube-black-29w-x-14-1-2d-x-43h?infoParam.campai gnId=T9A&gclid=CNm0q6z_gLwCFUtgMgodtjMAuA

Look around for others in your local area. The other part is good old zip ties. (Connect two overlaping into one tall panel using three small clear zip ties. Make enough panels to encircle the tree. Mine is 11 panels to encircle my 66 inch wide tree against the wall. So a 6 cube unit has 23 shelves, one extra shelf, to make the 11 panels.) This is the second year I put it up. And when company comes I can simply fold it up and tuck it away.

I still get paws reaching into the fence for the ornaments ar the bottom, but it easy to rehang those unbreakable ornaments. And a few times someone got caged under the tree because they were sleep on the tree shirt. Oops! I did not mean to cage them in but my tree branch go to the floor.

Ask him why?

Cheaper to spend $62 bucks on scratching posts and card scratchers and two rolls of packing tape. I got Cookie at age 3 and she started to claw my furniture. Bought 4 more card board scratching post. (We had 6 carpeted one but she refused to use them.) She loves the card board scratchers. I have the card board ones that hang from a door knob, lay on the floor and ones that are at 90 degrees. I taped up my furniture. Yes, it took 1.5 hours to perfectly tape up my lower part of my furniture, but worth it. After 10 months, she never clawed my furniture and I removed all of the tape. I also clip the claws more offen. I don't let them get to sharp points. 40 years of clipping claws, I know how much to clip.

I looked at those nail covers. Just found it easier to give Cookie more places to claw that were not my furniture.

I all else fails, get out a butcher knife and show him where you will cut off his fingers. Ssk if he could live this way. You need to know it is cruel. But my sister adopter a resued himalayan, Sable, that is declawed. She does not bite. But she is a little too touchy and hisses and runs away. Poor girl. She still wants to claw my sister sofa. Claws or no claws we still yell at her stop. We are still afraid the other cats will see and want to do it too. LOL! I truly believe she is moody because she declawed.

Anything a cat claws on can be taped. duct, masking package.....
