Proper Potty Placement

Before you place my litterbox in s that are most convenient for you, try thinking in my perspective. If you are only six inches tall, would you want to climb the equivalent of Mr. Everest (your stairs) and walk the 9-mile hallway to get to the third floor's back bedroom? It might as well be Siberia.
Although your basement keeps my litterbox hidden from guests, it also encourages me to have accidents when I do not want to make the effort (say just waking up from my nap in your bed). Instead, place my litterbox in an easily-accessible spot, away from my food and free from obstacles. If I have a high-hurdle a baby gate or if I fear being eaten by a dog every time I need to potty, I I will think "Why bother?"
The best spot to place my litterbox is in a convenient, quiet spot away from high-traffic areas, that I can have access to it at all times. If we live in a multi-story house, I should have an appropriate potty place on each florr. Three litterboxes lined up in the laundry room is equivalent to one big one.
If you choose the basement ove the first-floor powder room because you don't want guests to smell my litterbox, remember that, "if you clean it more often, you won't have to smell it either. In fact when my litterbox is dirty, this is the No. 1 reason why I sould outside of it. In my experience, cleanliness is even more important than my litterbox location of type.
