I'm lucky because where I live, higher quality wet food can be cheaper than grocery store stuff. We have Natural Balance 6oz cans for $1 each and Chicken Soup 6oz cans for $0.79 each. The grocery store stuff is way over-priced for the sub-par ingredients (a 3oz can of the regular Fancy Feast is $0.80). We are on a budget. We eat Natural Balance Ultra dry. A $30 bag lasts us about 2 1/2 months because we still eat wet food everyday. Mom spends about $40/month for both dry/wet on 2 cats and feeds 50% dry and 50% wet. We try to spend between $0.65-$1.00 per day for wet food (so the 6oz can has to be that size, because that is what we split at night).

We thought about switching to Diamond Naturals but because it's lower in calories than the Natural Balance, we'd have to feed more. It's still a great food for the low price.

Mom just wasn't willing to stop feeding wet food. Our water fountain broke so we are already drinking less water than we should be.

We also stopped using World's Best Cat Litter because it's just too expensive. I'd rather cut back on litter costs than food. Clay litter kind of sucks but it's fine for now. The regular Feline Pine is cheap but us kitties didn't like it.
